CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) recently proposed updates for the Medicare Advantage and Part D Prescription Drug Programs in the year of 2018, according to an Advance Notice and Draft Call Letter. In accordance to a press release, if the changes and modifications are finalized they will offer fair and stable payments to plans. Patrick Conway, acting administrator of CMS, said in the release, “Medicare Advantage is an important, growing part of the Medicare program. These proposals will continue to keep Medicare Advantage strong and stable and give high quality, affordable care to seniors and individuals living with disabilities.”
The Medicare Advantage plans will have a small net payment increase of 0.25 percent on average, resembling growth of the last year and a similar pattern in Medicare fee-for-service. In accordance to the CMS, the Medicare Advantage program will be improved and strengthened by the proposed policies for current and future generations.
