The CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) are calling for new activities and measures for consideration for the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) of MACRA's Quality Payment Program (QPP). MIPS is believed to be one of the tracks that providers can select to follow that will decide their reimbursement for services rendered to Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries under the rule of MACRA.
June 30, 2017 is the deadline to submit proposed measures for consideration. CMS is inquiring clinicians, measure stewards, agencies and other stakeholders to submit measures for categories involving Quality, Advancing Care Information and Improvement Activities. CMS said in a statement, "Measures and activities should be relevant, reliable, and valid at the individual clinician level. To be considered, proposals must involve measure specifications, related research, and background.” The measures’ final list for those participating in MIPS will be issued in the Federal Register by the day of November 1 of the year prior to day one of the performance period.
