Residents of Airdrie now have access to 24/7 emergency care

Residents of Airdrie will now have access to medical care, 24 hours each day, 7 days a week at the Airdrie Urgent Care Centre. These all services are being starting from next week.

Alberta Health Services, along with the agency of Alberta Health, the City of Airdrie, the Airdrie Health Foundation and the Highland Primary Care Network  claims that the move is to make better access to health services in the community.
Sarah Hoffman, Alberta’s Minister of Health said, “It is a testament to how we can make life better for Albertans when we work together, so I thank everyone who has assisted to make this a reality for Airdrie.”
AHS expanded the number of urgent care treatment spaces from 9 to thirteen to deal an increase in demand at the centre in 2016.
The need for expanded health care in Airdrie has been a contentious one for several years.
In the month of November 2016, a mother claimed that the problem resulted in her giving birth to her son Noah on the side of the road in the year of 2008.
The husband of Kelsey Brockway was taking her to Peter Lougheed Centre through car in the area of northeast Calgary while still she was in labour pain but they were not capable to make it and she gave birth on the side of the QEII Highway.
There were no as such complications with the birth of Noah, but the delay could have had terrifying results, particularly given what happened with her other children, she said.
“I’ve had 2 other kids since then, both with the (umbilical) cords wrapped around their necks twice,” claimed Brockway of her hospital births. “If that had happened with Noah, it might not have been such a happy turnout.”
Airdrie Urgent Care gives services for unexpected but non-life threatening health problems that need same-day treatment.
During life threatening conditions, patients will be treated in Calgary and area.
