A free-standing emergency room (ER) has been converted to an urgent-care clinic by UCHealth in Thornton at the corner of 136th Avenue and Colorado Boulevard. An emergency room (ER) is also being operated by UCHealth at 120th Avenue and Colorado Boulevard in the region of Thornton. Lori Japp, physician assistant and UCHealth’s vice president of urgent care said, “It is significant for sufferers to have access to the most suitable and appropriate level of care, close to home. She stated, “Urgent-care locations provide extended and weekend hours, and they are far less costly in comparison to emergency departments.”
The latest urgent-care clinic, which opened on the day of Jan. 3, gives care from nurse physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners. It will also provide laboratory and X-ray services. The urgent care clinic provides treatment for strains, headaches, sprains or possible broken bones, sore throats and coughs, fever, ear infections, and flu symptoms, minor burns, rashes, abdominal pain and vomiting, lacerations and animal bites. The urgent care clinic is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the days of Saturday and Sunday. The UCHealth is basically a nonprofit health system that involves Poudre Valley Hospital, Memorial Hospital, Colorado Health Medical Group, Broomfield Hospital, Medical Center of the Rockies, Grandview Hospital and University of Colorado Hospital. It is building hospitals in Longmont and Greeley. The UCHealth has more than 100 clinic locations in the Rocky Mountain region.
